Now that the Fire-Axe’s horde has successfully broken through the Mitran defenses, villages fall as they continue their rampage, spreading terror and death in their wake, our party prepares for the next stage of our journey. Tiadora has informed us that we will travel to the far north, to the settlement of Farholde, to accomplish the Cardinal’s next objective. She has come to escort our knot, which seems to be a somewhat unsettling notion to a couple of our members. Tiadora’s barge provides a steady and unassuming transport, with a crew that we should not have to dispatch as they are completely under her thrall.
The voyage north is relatively uneventful, and the leisurely pace will take half a fortnight, perhaps a day or two more, to arrive at our destination. Each night, we lay anchor within sight of a village, but never set to shore. One night, our curiosity got the better of us and we observed Tiadora leave the barge for the shore; we followed at a distance, observing silently from above the village. The sight was glorious, Tiadora would assume the form of a Mitran knight as she flayed innocents, torturing and interrogating random villagers in search of covert followers of Asmodeus. Of course, each night she condemns several villagers acting as judge, jury, and executioner, leaving witnesses to the atrocities committed by the righteous Mitran inquisitor.
As our voyage comes to an end, our knot was summoned to come before Cardinal Thorn once more. He tells us of the progress of Fire-Axe and the battles that have had the desired effect upon the morale of the Talingarde citizens. The Cardinal informs us that we have an important task to complete in this remote region on the edge of settled land, exposed and vulnerable to any number of threats from the vast uncharted wilderness to the south. Somewhere in that wilderness, we will find the Horn of Abaddon, our next objective in our quest to topple the Mitran regime. Within the horn we will find a seal that must be broken, a seal placed by the Victor himself, which will set free a Daemon prince that has the ability to create a plague to cripple the very heart of Talingarde.
We were introduced to a potential ally in a local Baron Vandemir. We were heartened to see that he is of the House Barca, and it is our hope that he will be inclined to seek vengeance for the treachery and defeat of his ancestor. We were somewhat disappointed to discover the Baron’s initial reluctance, but we understand as he is a politician and must play a game surrounded at all sides by Mitrans and Mitran sympathizers. He ultimately agreed to ally with us, and will provide support and resources, but we must be cautious in our endeavors not to draw undue attention to the Baron. With the support of the Baron, and the assistance of the 7th knot, we shall once again strike a blow that heralds the end of Mitran rule and the ascendance of Asmodeus.
